Job summary

SSE’s Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is seeking a proactive Project Manager to coordinate Out of Area delivery, manage external contractors, and ensure safe, compliant project delivery up to 11kV. The role supports regional leadership and drives continuous improvement in network projects.

The position is permanent, full-time, with a salary of £50,964–£60,899 plus car allowance and a competitive benefits package. Travel across UK locations and a valid UK driving licence are required.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team!

In this role, you’ll support the Regional Team Manager and Out of Area Delivery Manager in delivering SSE Network’s Out of Area Projects.

You’ll manage and coordinate external contractors, overseeing all aspects of connections to the SEPD and SHEPD Networks, across all voltages, including unmetered connections. You’ll ensure every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to regulatory standards, driving performance, maximising value, and ensuring our networks are fit for purpose.

With a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, you’ll help shape the future of our network delivery.

You Will

You Have

• Proven experience in electrical project delivery within the utilities or energy sector.


• HNC (or higher) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience).


• Strong knowledge of health & safety practices (e.g., SMSTS qualification).


• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels.

Working knowledge of distribution networks up to 11kV, regulatory standards, and industry codes of practice.

• This role involves travel across various locations to support business needs and a full UK driving licence is required for this position. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, as a role requirement, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work‑related travel.

The requirement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and if the company car policy criteria are met, there will be an opportunity to join the company car scheme. Provision of a company car or cash allowance does not form part of the contractual terms and conditions of employment for this role.
