Job description

Overview

Electrical Package Managers, Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. £350/day - £425/day Ltd (depending on experience and role engaged for). We are partnered with one of the Framework Consultants delivering upgrade projects at Devonport Dockyard. Our client is looking to take on 3 new freelance hires with experience in the UK defence industry to look after packages of work in one of the basin areas. Currently we need one Electrical Package Manager and an Assistant MEP Package Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure quality systems are suitably managed in line with service excellence.
  • Deliver and manage project plans from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.
  • Manage tasks and associated deliverables in support of senior project managers and other leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.
  • Review of design and engagement through the design process, assisting the design team where appropriate.
  • Assist with scoping work packages for design drawings in line with the other package managers.
  • Assist with procurement of packages, reviewing and appointing subcontractors alongside the commercial team.
  • Provide support to construction managers to ensure trade work packages are attaining the agreed delivery programme. Liaise with Building PMs/CMs as to their requirements to attain delivery programme.
  • Input and review the Contractor Reporting (Dashboard).
  • Attend regular Progress Meetings.
  • Monitor the Contractor Design, Programme and Deliverables.
  • Review and Monitor Key Quality Sign Offs.
  • Review and monitor incoming changes and advise on scope change and programme.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Experience in the UK defence industry.
  • Background in Civil or MEP Engineering with project management experience from an end client perspective.
  • Ability to review design, engage with the design team, and assist with scoping work packages for design drawings.
  • Procurement experience, including reviewing and appointing subcontractors alongside the commercial team.
  • Ability to support construction managers to ensure trade work packages meet the delivery programme; liaise with Building PMs/CMs as needed.
  • Experience with Contractor Reporting (Dashboard) and progress meeting disciplines.
