Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an experienced Project Manager with NEC3/NEC4 experience to lead major capital delivery projects in the Water sector. Hybrid working with Peterborough/Norwich hubs.

You will manage contract governance, administration and assurance across a portfolio of projects valued £500k–£15m, collaborating with delivery teams and supply chain partners to achieve successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• NEC3/NEC4 Project Manager Accreditation.
• Proven NEC contract management and administration experience.
• Strong commercial and contract management experience in construction/infrastructure environments.
• Experience managing change control, risk management and assurance activities.
• Solid understanding of project governance and performance management processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
• Experience in alliance/framework/collaborative delivery models.

Responsibilities

• Act as the ECC Project Manager for NEC3/NEC4 contracts, ensuring governance and compliance.
• Manage a portfolio of projects from £500k to £15m.
• Lead contract management activities including change control and compensation events.
• Provide commercial/contract support to delivery teams across Tier 1/2 supply chain.
• Support dispute avoidance and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
• Deliver contract assurance activities including final accounts, audits and cost validation.
• Produce performance reports and project insights highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Participate in portfolio governance boards and support project approvals.

Job description

Our Water company client is seeking an experienced Project Manager with NEC 3/4 experience to lead on major capital delivery projects in the Water sector based out of Peterborough with hybrid working.

The role will lead the contract management, administration and assurance of NEC3/NEC4 contracts across major infrastructure and construction projects. Managing a portfolio of projects valued between £500k and £15m, you will work closely with delivery teams, supply chain partners and stakeholders to ensure effective contract governance, compliance, collaboration and project success.

The role can be based out of Peterborough or Norwich hubs with hybrid working (2 or 3 days expected in office or on site)

Responsibilities

• Act as the ECC Project Manager for NEC3/NEC4 contracts, ensuring effective contract administration, governance and compliance.
• Manage and support a portfolio of projects ranging from £500k to £15m.
• Lead contract management activities including change control, Early Warnings, Risk Reduction Meetings and compensation event processes.
• Provide commercial and contractual support to delivery teams, ensuring obligations are met across Tier 1 and Tier 2 supply chain partners.
• Support dispute avoidance and resolution, maintaining strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
• Deliver contract assurance activities including final account reviews, contract audits, cost validation, defect management and compliance reporting.
• Produce performance reports and project insights, identifying risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Participate in portfolio governance boards and support project approvals through robust governance processes.
• Promote best practice, continuous improvement and a collaborative alliancing culture across programmes and supply chains.
• Support procurement activities, including contract strategy development and NEC contract option selection.
• Mentor and support Assistant ECC Project Managers and contribute to team development.
• Champion Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Environmental standards through site visits and proactive leadership.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Water industry experience desirable not essential
• HND or Degree in Construction, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
• NEC3 or NEC4 Project Manager Accreditation.
• Proven experience in NEC contract management and administration.
• Strong commercial and contract management experience within construction, infrastructure or engineering environments.
• Experience managing project change control, risk management and assurance activities.
• Sound understanding of project governance and performance management processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to identify risks, challenge constructively and drive value-for-money outcomes.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
• Experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
• Experience working within alliance, framework or collaborative delivery models.
• Knowledge of procurement strategies and NEC pricing options.
• Experience undertaking commercial assurance, audits or compliance reviews.
