Job summary

Eden Brown Built Environment is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale water and environmental programmes in the Midlands. You will oversee contracts, budgets and procurement, with exposure to NEC3/NEC4 frameworks and ECI/ESI approaches, while mentoring junior project staff.

This role offers progression into rail, nuclear and other regulated sectors, with strong training and chartership pathways.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a numerate discipline.
  • Full membership of a chartered body (e.g. MAPM or equivalent).
  • Extensive post-graduate experience in Water, Environment, Rail or Nuclear sectors.
  • Client-side experience for a main contractor or joint venture.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts (Options A, C & E).
  • Experience with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI)/ESI.
  • Line management and recruitment experience.
  • CDM Regulations knowledge and application.
  • Strong risk management capability.
  • CSCS card (Water Hygiene desirable).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to attend client site 4 days per week in the Midlands.

Responsibilities

  • Lead consultancy-based project management on complex infrastructure schemes.
  • Administer NEC contracts, manage budgets, forecast costs and cashflow.
  • Prepare notices, compensation events and contractual correspondence.
  • Maintain robust project and commercial records per NEC requirements.
  • Build relationships with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Drive efficiency across supply chains using proven project management practices.
  • Line manage and develop Project Managers and Assistant PMs.
  • Oversee pre-contract activities: scoping, cost planning, tender docs.
  • Oversee post-contract activities: variations, claims, final accounts.

Project Manager - Water Infrastructure

Location: Midlands (3 days on-site)

We are working exclusively with a highly respected, international consultancy to appoint a Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of major UK water and environmental programmes across the Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with strong NEC contract management credentials to play a key role in high-value capital programmes for water companies and the Environment Agency, with clear progression routes into rail, nuclear, and other regulated infrastructure sectors.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the UK Water Project Management Delivery Lead, you will lead the delivery of consultancy-based project management services on complex infrastructure schemes. The role offers exposure across the full project lifecycle, from early scoping and procurement through to construction delivery, contract administration, and final accounts. Key Responsibilities
Contract & Commercial Management
  • Client-side administration of NEC3 & NEC4 ECC contracts (Option A, C & El)
  • Budget control, cost forecasting, and cashflow management
  • Collaboration with Quantity Surveyors on payment assessments and monthly certifications, defined cost determination and actual cost forecasting
Preparation and issue of:
  • Early Warning Notices
  • Compensation Event notifications
  • Contractual correspondence and general communications
  • Maintaining robust project and commercial records in line with NEC requirements
Stakeholder & Project Leadership
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders
  • Drive efficiency across supply chains using major project experience and best practice
  • Line management, mentoring, and development of Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers
Pre-Contract Activities
  • Project scope definition and feasibility studies
  • Cost planning and risk identification
  • Preparation and evaluation of tender documentation
  • Early engagement with contractors (ECI / ESI) during the design phase
Post-Contract Activities
  • Administration of construction contracts
  • Management of change, variations, and compensation events
  • Claims management and dispute resolution support
  • Final accounts and post-project evaluation
About You
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a numerate discipline
