Position: Project Manager
Location: Oxford / Didcot (twice per month on-site, rest remote)
Rate: £400-475 per day

Experience in Local Authority projects is ideal.

Responsibilities include delivering infrastructure schemes through project programming, budget management, commissioning and managing design consultants, design approvals, procurement, and stakeholder communication. Support the Senior Project Manager or Programme Lead in overseeing major transport projects from design through construction, ensuring value for money and target achievement.

• Deliver successful projects that provide value for money and meet commercial targets.
• Act as an expert in specific areas such as drainage, trees, bridges, or liaise with external specialists as needed.
• Manage or coordinate staff within the same service area across geographical locations to ensure shared outcomes.
• Oversee delivery of individual schemes/projects within the service area.
• Manage budgets in accordance with council policies and procedures.
• Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, partners, senior council staff, politicians, and operational teams.
• Manage workload and resources for successful service delivery.
• Take responsibility for managing specific budgets.
• Promote customer service and clear communication, including with residents and communities.
• Provide information for performance management.
• Stay updated on legislation and best practices, adopting relevant initiatives.
• Maintain a valid driving license and access to a vehicle or demonstrate effective travel arrangements.
• Work in accordance with corporate values and competency framework.
• Perform any other duties necessary for the role.

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week minimum
• Monday to Friday
• Weekly pay
