Salary: £45,000-55,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm

Founded in 2012, Meanwhile Creative supports the creative minds of Bristol, Cardiff, Manchester by establishing lively places to work. We repurpose dormant and unloved commercial buildings and land for use as flexible, affordable workspace for the country’s burgeoning creative businesses. All in all, our projects currently support more than 400 creative businesses and start-ups, ranging from artisan chocolatiers to jewellers, artists, carpenters, therapists, graphic designers, architects and charities, along with everything in between.

We repurpose shipping containers as studio and offices to provide start-up workspaces for small independent makers and businesses. Following the success of our container yard projects in Manchester, Bristol and Cardiff, we are pivoting exclusively towards container parks of 100+ units, and aim to establish at least one site in every major UK city by 2028.

Our Maker Villages have become thriving centres of diverse but like-minded people striving to turn their passion into an income, or using the container studios as a launch pad for a new business concept. The company has numerous projects in the pipeline due to start in 2025.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and deliver our next shipping container Maker Village in Norwich.Situated within a former car park in a prominent location close to the City Centre, St Saviour’s Yard will house 84 converted shipping containers designed in blocks with pedestrianised lanes, attractive breakout and green spaces to maximise functionality, fluidity and user enjoyment.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage all phases of the project from inception to completion.
• Meet contractors, obtain quotes and draft project execution plans to deliver outputs and define project governance, systems and processes.
• Value engineering; strictly monitor budgets holding full financial accountability.
• Recruit contractors and manage contractor relationships, ensuring the project is delivered on time and within budget.
• Implementation of quality control systems and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
• Manage and maintain strict Health and Safety compliance on site.
• Provide leadership and direction to on site teams and contractors.
• Ensure timely management of any unforeseen delays.
• Assist with procurement and logistics in line with project schedules.
• Maintain accurate project records.
• Work collaboratively with both internal and external teams; Architects, Planners, Structural Engineers, Building Control and other parties.
• Effectively Manage the flow of information between all parties and regularly report on project progress.
• Possibility to extend the contract and work with Meanwhile Creative on other up-coming container projects across the UK.

About you

• 5+ years experience leading site-based construction projects (as Project/Construction Manager).
• Candidates with MRICS or other property qualifications (such as Project Management/ Construction/ Engineering/ Quantity Surveying/Architecture) preferable.
• SMSTS, CSCS/CSR, First Aid at Work, COSHH accreditations advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle.
• Experience in sourcing and maintaining contractor relationships.
• A good head for numbers is essential as is the ability to meticulously organise and run your own budgets and creatively tackle challenges.
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a go-getter attitude and entrepreneurial spirit to ensure you fit in with the company culture and hit the ground running.
• Ability to adapt and align with our non-conventional and innovative approach to property management, which has allowed us to carve our own niche and highly profitable way of doing things.
• Strong interpersonal skills (role is client facing)
