Overview of the role
As project manager you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering the entire lifecycle of several core projects within UKROEd, from planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation. You will be responsible for ensuring that the projects are completed on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of invested stakeholders.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Working closely with the Head of Programmes and Continuous Improvement you will:
Strategic Planning and oversight
- Be responsible for leading and supporting various projects in support of UKROEd’s strategy
- Develop project scope and achievable objectives for each project
- Manage the life cycle of development projects from the initiation, design and delivery phase through to completion; ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and on budget.
- Coordinate internal teams and Associates to ensure smooth project execution.
- Identify and work closely with external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are achieved
- Regularly monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Project Execution & Delivery
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation to meet expectations around governance, procurement and compliance.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget
- Identify and seek approval for project resource and support
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans to track progress across the arena of all ongoing projects
- Use appropriate techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
- Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with third parties/associates
Stakeholder Management
- Prepare and deliver regular updates to the respective Project Boards, Senior Leadership Team, UKROEd Board and other key stakeholders
- Serve as point of contact for external stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, consultants and other partners.
- Facilitate effective communication and decision-making processes between stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Report as appropriate to the Head of Programmes and Continuous Improvement in line with the agreed format and schedules in addition to the timely and accurate production of Board Reports.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight
- Contribute to financial analysis and budget setting for projects
- Work with finance teams to manage and monitor financial performance throughout the lifespan of projects funding
Leadership
- Ensure projects are fully resourced and well-directed, with clear guidelines to any supporting resources with regards job responsibilities and provide the appropriate level of support to achieve this
- Foster and contribute to a high-performance culture within the programmes and continuous improvement team, ensuring continuous development and collaboration
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all projects comply with company requirements, regulations, legal requirements and industry standards.
- Develop and maintain risk management protocols, identifying potential issues before they escalate.
Innovation and Best Practice
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, and sustainable development practices to incorporate into project development.
- Continuously improve project management processes and tools for efficiency and effectiveness
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience delivering major projects
- Good understanding and practical experience of Prince2 and its application in a commercial and local government environment
- Leadership of high-performance project teams

- Considerable experience of leading and delivering projects, major resources, including third party suppliers, and transition into operational service
- Proven good customer management skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders as necessary

Qualifications
- Prince 2 Practitioner or equivalent
- Membership of APM, IPM or similar organisation with strong project management credentials
