Project Manager

Join the Professional Services team while studying for a Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist Masters Degree Apprenticeship.

THIS IS A DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP ROLE WHICH REQUIRES STUDY AT MANCHESTER METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY. ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO ACCEPTANCE ON THE DEGREE PROGRAMME.

All masters degree apprenticeships demand a lot of time and commitment. Our existing apprentices have excelled; we are not lowering our standards. Bring your A game.

  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Location: Manchester City Centre Office
  • Salary: £30,000
  • Reports to: Operations Director
Role Overview:

We are looking for a Post-Graduate Project Manager to join our team. Ciptex delivers technical software solutions, so this PM role will have a correspondingly technical focus. You will work as part of the Professional Services team to assist with the delivery of projects. That may be a case of assisting with the delivery of large projects or taking the lead on smaller projects. The role has three main elements: communicating with our clients, arranging resources internally, and creating project documentation. Ciptex operates “Wagile” processes, so an understanding of both Agile and Waterfall is necessary.

Time is split as needed between university and work. We will ensure you get all the time you need to attend studies and complete coursework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create Project Plans, Statements of Work, and maintain Risk registers
  • Liaise with technical delivery team members to help assemble the relevant information
  • Monitor and track progress against plans
  • Manage the project budget and track completion against budget used
  • Support our finance team with project task invoicing
  • Flag project risks and issues to the project board
  • Identify scope creep and flag to both Operational Management and commercial teams
  • Help plan Professional Services Resources
  • Forecast future resource usage and thus help compile forecast revenue data
Qualifications:

Not all applications will have skills that match a job description exactly. Ciptex values diverse experiences in other fields, and we encourage everyone who meets some of the wanted skills below to apply. At Ciptex, you will learn a range of skills, but we're expecting you to already be able to tick off most of the following list:

  • Good knowledge of both Waterfall and Agile project principles
  • Experience in using those principles in practical situations
  • Relevant project certifications - for example, Prince2, ScrumMaster, Jira, etc.
  • Create project planning documents based on different methodologies, for example, a Gantt chart or Sprint contents
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of software/SaaS industry and how such businesses operate
  • Commercial acumen
  • Attention to detail and process-driven
  • Able to work with a variety of different types of people, including 'difficult' customers
Growth Path:

This role offers opportunities to advance into senior project/programme management roles, or alternatively, a variety of management positions.

We support and encourage learning of all kinds. We will offer technical and skills-based training throughout the apprenticeship and beyond, and it is our hope that the successful candidate will wish to continue in our employment after graduation.
