Description

Due to project growth, we are looking for a Design / Project Manager to join our London Design Management group. You should demonstrate relevant experience in design and commercial management and have excellent communication skills. The role involves close liaison with Project Directors and multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver high-profile projects. You will play a pivotal role in project delivery from day one, driving project performance in the London studio.

Overview of responsibilities

  1. Liaise with the commercial team on cost and contract management.
  2. Manage and contribute to project risk registers.
  3. Coordinate design activities, track progress against programme, milestones, including project changes, supply chain, CDM, Planning, BREEAM, H&S, Risk, Assurance.
  4. Communicate design challenges with the Client’s Project Management team and facilitate resolution.
  5. Create and monitor work plans with Design Leads throughout the project lifecycle.
  6. Report progress and performance to BDP directors, including financial targets.
  7. Manage change control processes, inform clients and design teams of scope changes, and handle contractual notifications.
  8. Participate in design and QA processes, ensuring actions are completed timely and records are maintained.
  9. Support monthly project reporting.
  10. Determine resource needs with Project Director and Design Leads, and present planning options.
  11. Oversee Request for Information (RFI) processes to ensure proper system use.
  12. Mentor less experienced team members in project management.
  13. Assist with bid submissions preparation.

About you

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Construction or Engineering.
  • Diploma/Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
  • Understanding of professional services contracts (e.g., NEC3, CIC, JCT) and procurement methods.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, graphical, verbal).
  • Strong mathematical and commercial literacy.
  • Organized, energetic, with excellent time management.
  • Team player capable of working in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and quality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to plan and schedule design activities; knowledge of project planning software is a plus.
  • Motivated, proactive, flexible, and able to work independently under pressure.
  • Professional manner and confident in engaging with all levels within the company.
