Job description

Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager (electrically biased) to take ownership of the final delivery phase of a large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. The role will focus on driving the project through final commissioning, energisation readiness, and successful client handover.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical understanding of electrical systems within solar/BESS projects, combined with proven project management skills to ensure safety, compliance, quality, and schedule adherence.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Delivery & Final Stage Management
  • Lead the final stages of project delivery to achieve energisation readiness.
  • Manage commissioning schedules, inspections, testing, and verification of electrical systems.
  • Oversee final snagging, punch list clearance, and documentation for handover.
• Technical & Electrical Oversight
  • Review and approve electrical drawings, commissioning plans, and testing procedures.
  • Liaise with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure compliance with electrical standards and specifications.
  • Coordinate energisation activities with the DNO/TSO and other relevant stakeholders.
• Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination
  • Manage relationships with EPC contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and the client.
  • Chair progress meetings and report on project status, risks, and mitigations.
  • Ensure all parties are aligned for safe, timely, and compliant project close-out.
• Compliance & Handover
  • Ensure all safety, quality, and environmental requirements are met.
  • Oversee the completion of all as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and training materials.
  • Deliver formal handover to operations teams and client representatives.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven project management experience in Solar PV and/or BESS projects (utility-scale preferred).
• Strong electrical engineering knowledge, ideally with experience in HV/LV systems, grid connections, and commissioning.
• Track record of managing projects through final stages to energisation and handover.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and coordination skills.
• Understanding of health, safety, quality, and environmental (HSQE) compliance in electrical projects.
• Relevant project management qualification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2) desirable.
• Relevant electrical qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience) advantageous.
