Project Manager, A&P Tyne
Our Project Management team is critical to the business as the main interface between us and our customers, coordinating and expediting all aspects of projects including planning, managing budgets, coordinating the team, and ensuring successful delivery.
This role is 100% site-based, working closely with both internal teams and our customer to manage complex, fast-paced engineering projects.
We want someone who can take responsibility and own the outcome, so if that sounds like you — we'd love to talk!
What will you do?
- Take full ownership of multi-million-pound fabrication projects.
- Lead a skilled team on the ground, including planners, engineers, production, and quality, managing deadlines, budgets, and deliverables with precision.
- Act as the key point of contact for our customer, building trust and confidence.
- Navigate challenges in real-time, ensuring no detail is missed by tracking earned value.
- Drive performance, safety, and quality at every step.
What are we looking for?
- An engineering qualification, preferably in mechanical engineering or similar, with solid project management experience in heavy fabrication, shipbuilding, defense, or complex engineering environments.
- Someone who thrives in a busy, hands-on setting — not behind a desk.
- Confidence in working daily with senior stakeholders, including your customer.
- A strong understanding of project lifecycles, change control, and cost management.
- APM, PRINCE2, or similar certifications (or working towards them) with experience tracking earned value.
- Eligibility for MOD security clearance is essential.
- Proficiency in MS Office and planning tools like MS Project or Primavera.
- Procurement and budget management skills, including data analysis, Excel, and management reporting with accuracy and attention to detail.
- A strong planner and organizer comfortable making decisions to meet targets.
