Job description

Project Manager

We are looking to recruit a Project Manager to join an Independent Civil engineering Contractor who specializes in power, utilities, and construction sectors. You will be tasked with overseeing field operatives in the build of a new substation, in line with costs, agreed specifications and regulations of other stakeholders, as well as ensuring and educating the team on best practices.

Responsibilities for Project Manager

If you are a successful candidate and a standout Project Manager, you can expect to be responsible for:

  1. Organising and overseeing the site delivery team to ensure projects are delivered on time.
  2. Working in collaboration with various departments/areas of the supply chain and stakeholders to ensure works are delivered to the highest possible standard regarding quality, safety and value.
  3. Ensuring all activities comply with health and safety and environmental regulations and bringing this culture to all projects.
  4. Being a point of contact for stakeholders and building strong business relationships.
  5. Simultaneously managing the five key phases of multiple high risk and/or complex projects:
    1. ECI where required
    2. Estimating and tendering
    3. Design (permanent and temporary works)
    4. Construction/delivery
    5. Project close out, including settlement of final accounts
  6. Undertaking the role of Contractor (under the JCT and or NEC type contract) to ensure that the contract is efficiently and effectively managed to ensure the company receives maximum value by exemplar contract management (including any supply chain/ partner contracts).

Requirements for Project Manager

Individuals who will stand out will be able to demonstrate:
  1. A good understanding of works involving high voltage.
  2. 10 years' experience managing projects of £2m+ (desirable).
  3. Strong commercial awareness and risk-based analysis skills.
  4. Degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline (essential).
  5. Chartered membership of appropriate professional body (desirable).
  6. Previous experience with the construction of new substations.
