We are currently partnering with a leading facilities and engineering services provider to recruit an experienced BMS Project Manager for their growing London team. Based in London with hybrid working, this role offers up to £80,000 + benefits and the opportunity to deliver high-profile BMS and building controls projects across London.
You’ll take ownership of projects from planning and design through to installation, commissioning and handover, managing programmes, budgets, subcontractors and engineering teams along the way. The role combines strong project management with technical BMS knowledge, making it ideal for an experienced BMS Project Manager, Project Engineer or BMS Engineer looking to progress into project management. You’ll work closely with clients, engineers and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard, while also supporting future project opportunities and client relationships.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing the end-to-end delivery of BMS and building controls projects from inception through to completion and handover.
- Developing project programmes, plans and schedules, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
- Managing project budgets, costs, resources and commercial performance.
- Coordinating BMS engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Working closely with clients and customers to understand requirements and ensure projects are delivered to specification.
- Overseeing BMS installation, upgrades, modifications, integration and commissioning activities.
- Managing project risks, issues, variations and changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Reviewing technical documentation, drawings, specifications and project deliverables.
- Ensuring all works are delivered in line with relevant health & safety legislation, company procedures and industry standards.
- Monitoring project progress and providing regular updates to senior management and clients.
- Supporting the resolution of technical issues and coordinating engineering teams where required.
- Managing subcontractor performance and ensuring work is delivered to the required standards.
- Ensuring projects are properly documented, including commissioning records, O&M information and handover documentation.
- Working collaboratively with engineering and facilities teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintaining strong client relationships and supporting the development of future project opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience delivering BMS, controls or building services projects in a Project Manager, Project Engineer or similar capacity.
- Strong understanding of BMS, HVAC controls and building services environments.
- Experience managing projects from design/procurement through to installation, commissioning and handover.
- Strong project planning, coordination and organisational skills.
- Experience managing budgets, programmes, subcontractors and project resources.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing variations and project costs.
- Understanding of BMS platforms and controls technologies; experience with Johnson Controls Metasys would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of HVAC systems and their interaction with BMS platforms.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation.
- Strong understanding of health & safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Previous experience within facilities management, critical environments or complex commercial buildings would be beneficial.
- Relevant project management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent would be advantageous but is not essential.
