Job summary

Imperial College London is seeking Project Managers to support the delivery of capital projects across campuses, creating spaces for research, education and collaboration. You will manage projects from briefing to handover, plan risks, budgets, programmes and procurement, and work with consultants, contractors and internal teams to ensure compliant, on-time delivery.

  • A degree or relevant professional qualification related to the work of the role.
  • Experience managing construction or capital projects, including securing value for money.
  • Experience preparing and controlling project budgets.
  • Experience negotiating and working with professional consultants.
  • Experience leading the design and implementation of projects involving change management.
  • Experience developing project briefs, specifications, options appraisals and business cases.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, including JCT and NEC forms.
  • Knowledge of procurement procedures, statutory requirements, health and safety legislation and the Building Safety Act.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Delivery-focused approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital projects from briefing and feasibility through to completion and handover.
  • Plan, monitor and control project risks, budgets, programmes, procurement, quality and change control.
  • Work with internal stakeholders, end users, consultants, contractors and Property Division colleagues to develop briefs, manage approvals and support smooth delivery.

Job description

Imperial College London is seeking Project Managers to support the successful delivery of capital projects across our campuses, helping to create high-quality spaces that support research, education and collaboration.

Working within the Project Delivery Team of the Development Department, you will play a key role in delivering projects within Imperial's Capital Plan, either directly or through the oversight of external consultants. These projects are typically over £1m, or involve complex technical, procurement, planning or logistical requirements, and must be delivered in line with Imperial procedures, statutory requirements, agreed programmes and capital budgets.

What you would be doing

In this role, you will manage capital projects from briefing and feasibility through to completion and handover. You will plan, monitor and control project risks, budgets, programmes, procurement, quality and change control, ensuring projects are delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with Imperial's standards and statutory requirements.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, end users, consultants, contractors, statutory bodies and Property Division colleagues to develop project briefs, manage approvals and support smooth delivery with minimal disruption to campus operations. You will also contribute to project reporting, governance, lessons learned and continuous improvement across the Projects Delivery Team.
