Job summary

The All England Lawn Tennis Club is seeking a Technology Project Lead to manage strategic technology initiatives for The Championships. You will guide projects from idea through deployment, coordinating internal teams and external partners to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

You'll apply Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid approaches as appropriate, maintain governance, and partner with the Strategy and Planning teams to align technology with business needs and guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technology projects from conception through service transition for The Championships.
  • Drive project lifecycles across packaged, SaaS, and bespoke solutions with internal and external teams.
  • Maintain governance: scope, budget, dependencies, change control, and escalations.
  • Manage suppliers and delivery partners, tracking milestones and commitments.
  • Collaborate with Strategy and Planning to align projects with business needs and end-user requirements.
  • Coordinate with Operations to ensure smooth deployment and excellent post‑go-live support.
  • Plan testing, UAT, and training before deployment; identify risks and mitigation steps.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club organises and stages The Championships, Wimbledon, widely regarded as the world’s premier tennis tournament. Its Technology Department provides and supports systems and infrastructure for the tournament and year-round operations, including ticketing, public safety, tournament management, scoring, retail, marketing, museum, community sports, club management, websites, apps, and data integration.

  • Manage technology projects from conception through service transition, providing year-round services and support for The Championships;
  • Drive the project lifecycle across packaged, SaaS, and bespoke solutions with internal and external technology professionals;
  • Nurture stakeholder relationships and provide best-practice advice and solutions to maintain, design, procure, and deliver projects within budget and quality standards;
  • Maintain project governance, including scope control, dependency management, budget tracking, change control, and timely escalation;
  • Manage third-party suppliers and delivery partners, tracking responsibilities, milestones, commercial commitments, and service expectations;
  • Partner with the Technology Strategy and Planning team to understand business areas and align projects with business needs;
  • Coordinate with Operations and Service Delivery teams to ensure smooth operational transition and excellent end-user service;
  • Schedule application testing, user acceptance testing, and training before deployment;
  • Identify project risks and issues and develop mitigation and escalation plans;
  • Prepare project status reports, perform risk and issue analysis, and manage related actions;
  • Conduct post-project reviews to drive continuous improvement;
  • Keep up to date with industry developments applicable to AELTC systems;
  • Deliver services and systems critical to The Championships’ operations and guest experience within required timelines;
  • Participate in a rota where extended hours may be required to support product owners and end users;
  • Meet with end users and product owners who may not be present year-round.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with end users, technical teams, suppliers, and senior management;
  • Flexibility to provide additional technology support during the project management lifecycle, including testing;
  • Demonstrable experience delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality;
  • Proven ability to write project plans, break technical specifications into phases, and identify critical path activities;
  • Proven experience delivering projects from third-party system suppliers, including SaaS or packaged solutions;
  • Experience managing projects using Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies, selecting the most suitable approach for project size and complexity;
  • Comfortable using AI-enabled tools for meeting preparation, action tracking, status reporting, risk analysis, documentation, and stakeholder communications, with an understanding of responsible and secure use;
  • Experience managing projects where AI was used as a delivery resource or embedded throughout the delivery lifecycle.
