Job description

Overview

Shape the places that matter. Lead projects that define the future. At AtkinsRéalis, we’re redefining how complex projects are delivered across the built environment—bringing together technical excellence, digital innovation, and a collaborative mindset. Our Project & Programme Management team in Buildings & Places plays a central role in delivering some of the UK’s most high‑profile and impactful developments.

Your role

You’ll join a high‑performing, growing team delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors such as commercial real estate, education, public sector, heritage, and mixed‑use development. This role is ideal for a Project Manager who enjoys being at the centre of delivery—owning projects from inception through to completion, engaging directly with clients, and leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Leading the delivery of projects across the full lifecycle—from business case and procurement through to construction and handover
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for clients, building trusted, long‑term relationships
  • Managing programme, cost, risk, and change control processes, ensuring robust project governance
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams, including consultants and contractors, to achieve high‑quality outcomes
  • Chairing project meetings, including risk workshops and governance forums
  • Overseeing procurement strategies and administering contracts (e.g. JCT, NEC)
  • Monitoring project performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving proactive solutions
  • Supporting account management activities, including reporting, client updates, and pipeline development
  • Contributing to business development—identifying opportunities for repeat work and promoting AtkinsRéalis’ capabilities
  • Supporting and mentoring Assistant Project Managers and junior team members
About You

We’re keen to engage with candidates currently working in a project management consultancy or client organisation, with a strong track record delivering building projects of similar scale and complexity.

Essential

  • Proven experience delivering property/building projects from inception to completion
  • Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, and delivery frameworks
  • Experience administering JCT (and/or NEC) contracts
  • Confident in a client‑facing role, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing stakeholders
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
Desirable
  • Professionally qualified (or working towards) RICS, APM, CIOB, or equivalent
  • Experience in both public and private sector projects
  • Strong commercial awareness, including fee management and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of construction market trends, procurement strategies, and emerging best practice
  • Experience contributing to business development and account growth
Benefits
  • Hybrid working and genuine commitment to work‑life balance
