Job summary

SEDR Recruitment Ltd in Exeter is seeking an entry- to mid-level Project Manager for Civil Engineering / Battery Energy Storage. The role supports reinforced concrete works on a renewable energy project with potential nationwide future sites.

You will lead site teams, manage budgets and programmes, ensure safety and quality, and coordinate design changes with project designers, reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager.

Qualifications

• A degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
• Practical experience delivering reinforced concrete works and foundations.
• Experience managing civil infrastructure projects as Site Agent/PM or similar.
• Strong leadership and budget management skills.
• Familiar with planning software and reporting systems.
• Valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead a self-delivery team and manage project delivery from mobilisation to handover.
• Manage site teams including Works Managers, Site Agents and engineers.
• Oversee reinforced concrete works and foundations, including QA.
• Coordinate enabling works, earthworks, drainage and underground services.
• Plan and manage plant, labour, materials and subcontractors.
• Maintain safety, RAMS and quality standards and monitor CVR reporting.
• Interface with design teams to review drawings and changes.
• Maintain client relationships and support junior staff.

Project Manager - Civil Engineering / Battery Energy Storage

Location: Exeter initially, followed by projects nationwide

Level: Entry-level to mid-level Project Manager

Salary: £65,000 to £75,000 per Annum plus package

SEDR Recruitment connects engineering and construction professionals with contractors across civil engineering, bulk earthworks, infrastructure, groundworks, land remediation and energy construction.

We are recruiting a Project Manager for an established civil engineering contractor, starting on a renewable energy infrastructure construction project in Exeter, with other UK projects to follow.

This opportunity suits someone stepping into their first Project Manager position or a Project Manager at an early to intermediate stage of their career. Candidates must have practical experience delivering both reinforced concrete works and civil engineering infrastructure projects, potentially gained as a Site Agent or in a similar management role.

The role

Reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager and Contracts Director, you will lead a self-delivery team and manage safe, efficient project delivery from mobilisation to handover.

Key responsibilities

• * Manage site teams, including Works Managers, Site Agents, Engineers and quality personnel.
• * Oversee reinforced concrete works, including foundations, bases and slabs.
• * Coordinate enabling works, earthworks, drainage, ducting and underground services.
• * Plan and manage plant, labour, materials and subcontractors.
• * Maintain health, safety, environmental and quality standards, including RAMS and inspection plans.
• * Manage programmes, budgets, forecasts and cost value reconciliation (CVR) reporting.
• * Interpret drawings and coordinate design changes with project designers.
• * Maintain client relationships, resolve delivery issues and support junior staff.

What we're looking for

• * A degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
• * Practical experience delivering reinforced concrete works, including reinforcement, formwork, concrete placement and quality control.
• * Experience managing civil engineering infrastructure projects as a Site Agent, Project Manager or in a comparable role.
• * Strong leadership skills and experience managing directly delivered construction works.
• * Commercial awareness and confidence managing budgets and subcontractor performance.
• * Familiarity with planning software and digital reporting systems.
• * Knowledge of NEC contracts would be advantageous.
• * A full UK driving licence.

Travel and eligibility

You must be willing to travel and lodge away from home. The initial project is in Exeter, with future projects across the UK. Lodge allowances are provided for working away.

Applicants must have the existing right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
