Job description

Role: SEND Project Manager

Rate: £500 per day

Duration: 3 to 6 months

Working Pattern: Full-time (35 hours per week), mostly remote

I'm working with a local authority in the North West that’s entering the delivery phase of a major SEND transformation programme, backed by DfE mitigations. They’re now looking for an experienced SEND Project Manager to lead and structure delivery across multiple workstreams.

Overview:

Reporting into the Head of SEND and Programme Director, you’ll set up and manage 6–8 project workstreams, including task-and-finish groups. You’ll also establish a project management framework to support the wider programme and future delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and manage multiple workstreams and delivery groups (6 to 8 projects)
  • Establish and implement a PM framework for future Project Managers to adopt
  • Create Terms of Reference for workstreams and task-and-finish groups
  • Support workstream leads in prioritising activities and managing delivery
  • Take on direct project responsibilities where needed to reduce pressure on teams
  • Deliver clear milestone reporting and maintain high standards of project documentation
  • Work at pace to prevent delays which could impact programme outcomes and financial targets

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of the SEND landscape
  • Proven experience in setting up and managing complex project structures
  • Excellent organisational skills and familiarity with project management tools
  • Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • Ability to balance financial savings with quality and outcomes for children and young people
  • Experience working with multi-agency partners, including schools and local services
  • Positive, can-do attitude and a flexible team player
