Vacancy Overview

Are you an experienced project professional looking for your next rewarding challenge? Join a growing team at the forefront of large-scale infrastructure delivery and play a vital role in shaping the UK’s future energy landscape. This is your opportunity to contribute to one of the country’s most ambitious engineering programmes – a next-generation nuclear power project that will help drive progress toward Net Zero by 2050.

Role Purpose

This interim Contract Project Manager role sits within a key delivery team overseeing a major infrastructure programme. You’ll be responsible for managing the delivery and performance of a significant workstream – the Conventional Island and Balance of Plant – under a Nuclear Services Agreement (NSA).

You will ensure contractual activities align with project milestones and that progress, quality, and commercial performance are tracked and managed effectively. With a strong understanding of contract terms, supply chain processes, and programme delivery, you will provide essential coordination across multiple stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for NSA contractual delivery within a defined programme of work
  • Monitor and manage contract execution and performance, resolving issues proactively
  • Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery in alignment with scope and quality expectations
  • Compile and report on key contract metrics and performance indicators
  • Lead and support contract change negotiations and compensation event management
  • Coordinate closely with supply chain, commercial, and delivery teams
  • Manage risks and early warnings effectively and in line with contract provisions
  • Facilitate resolution and coordination meetings with contractors and internal teams
  • Enable change control processes to secure additional technical support as required
  • Provide oversight and support for the technical delivery from the Responsible Designer

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in major infrastructure projects (nuclear sector experience advantageous)
  • Strong contract management expertise, particularly in complex engineering environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple workstreams
  • Proficient in MS Office and other project management tools
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and escalation

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in nuclear engineering or project management
  • Understanding of commercial and procurement processes for large capital projects
  • Familiarity with EPR project design principles
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional technical topics
  • Fluency in French (an asset, but not required)
  • Chartered or working toward chartership with a relevant professional body
  • Experience with early-stage contract procurement and tender processes
