Job description

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

Pay: Dependant on experience, bonus opportunity of up to 20% of salary per year

Location: Sewell Head Office, HU7 0DG

Role Overview

The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for the successful delivery of any given project to client satisfaction and in accordance with Sewell policies, procedures and cultural approach, known as Construction Excellence.

The role responsibilities are split into the cultural requirements known as "Software" and technical and procedural requirements known as "Hardware".

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery as a single team, working collaboratively with our clients, subcontractors, design teams, and internal colleagues.
  • Appropriately resource projects and clearly define roles and responsibilities to the project team to support delivery of works.
  • Continually monitor team performance, set objectives, and identify training or development needs.
  • Set clear expectations, drive high performance, and foster positive, collaborative relationships with the supply chain.
  • Support the production of, and be responsible for, communicating clear project expectations.
  • Maintain project presentation, ensuring that site boundaries, roads, welfare and office areas are clean and tidy.
  • Hold responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of any given project, leading by example and ensuring that a culture of health, safety and wellbeing is embraced and adopted across the project.
  • Identify, report and address any issues concerning the quality of the product in a timely manner.
  • Mitigate the impact of any loss of money through waste time, materials or substandard installations which require re-work.
  • Ensure the design is delivered in accordance with the design delivery plan, meets the brief and maintenance requirements, fits within the agreed affordability envelope for the scheme and is compliant with all the relevant legislation and guidance in force at that time.
  • Ensure there are no breaches in environmental law, ensure disruption caused by the work is minimised and take action to eliminate or reduce any adverse environmental impacts.

Requirements

As well as exhibiting our company behaviours of being Positive, Professional, Customer Focused, a Team Player and Doing the Right Thing, the successful person will have the following:

Essential:

  • Hold a full driving licence, valid in the UK.
  • Qualified at HNC level or above and hold a valid 5-day CITB SMSTS Certificate.
  • A proven track record in controlling and managing large scale construction projects including the management and coordination of subcontractors.
  • Experience in leadership and be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities.
  • Previous experience working with programming and web-based document storage software.
  • A positive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to work using own initiative but also as part of a close knit team.
  • Excellent levels of computer literacy, and be fluent in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Have a proactive attitude towards delivering construction works to a world-class standard.
  • Hold excellent communications skills and the ability to liaise with senior clients & subcontractors.
  • Possess good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks.
  • Possess a positive approach to learning, development and progression.
  • Have a flexible outlook towards hours worked.
  • Have working knowledge of current Health and Safety practice.

Desirable:

  • Previous knowledge working with both public and private sector clients.
  • Hold or be working towards a professional qualification relevant to the role.
  • Previous experience and/or training on BIM (Building Information Modelling).
