Job description

We’re on the lookout for a motivated and creative Project Manager to join our Property & Facilities team – someone who’s not just great at getting things done, but who’s also excited to shape the future of our campuses in bold and imaginative ways and who shares our passion for delivering sustainable and meaningful change.

About the role

This is a pivotal role within our Property Development function, where you'll work with stakeholders across the University to support our strategic goals, including achieving Net Zero and enhancing our learning and working environments. Whether it’s a new build or a targeted upgrade, your project leadership will contribute to a campus that inspires and supports our students, staff, and wider community.

As a Project Manager, you’ll take the lead on the planning, procurement, and delivery of capital, refurbishment, maintenance, and environmental sustainability projects across our campuses. From inception to completion, you will be responsible for ensuring that each project meets the highest standards in safety, sustainability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

What you’ll do

  • Manage the full lifecycle of property and sustainability projects, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to specification.
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to shape project briefs, ensure compliance, and embed our environmental policy and values into every work stream.
  • Lead procurement and tendering processes, monitor on-site activity, and manage handovers and post-occupancy evaluations.
  • Champion safety and sustainability, ensuring all project activities align with our Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Act as the University’s representative, maintaining productive relationships with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

In addition, undertake other duties as may reasonably be required by the Head of Property Development.

What We’re Looking For

  • A formal project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2) and a solid background in construction or building services project management
  • Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • A UK driving license is essential
  • In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, CDM responsibilities, and environmental standards
  • Proven experience in delivering complex capital and infrastructure projects, ideally within a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and influencing skills
  • A commitment to delivering excellent service, continuous improvement, and our University values of ambition, collaboration, and integrity

Experience within the higher education sector and membership of a relevant professional body (CIOB, RICS, ICE etc.) would be beneficial.
