The Programme and Project Delivery team is comprised of Programme Managers, Project Managers, and Agile Delivery professionals, working collaboratively to drive efficient change delivery. The Programme Managers provide strategic oversight across initiatives, while Project Managers handle the planning and delivery of individual projects. Agile Delivery professionals focus on iterative value delivery and continuous improvement.

The primary objective of this role is the management of business projects, encompassing both development of systems and the delivery of business change.

The Project Manager is expected to be experienced in leading project delivery, who can manage issues, build relationships with team members, and direct tasks to deliver projects to required standards of quality, within agreed budgets and timescales. The individual is comfortable dealing with projects of different scale and complexity and has experience across the full project life cycle. They will manage their own workload and that of others and provide support and guidance for less experienced colleagues.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of projects.
  • Prepare and present project progress, risks, and budgets to steering committees.
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple business areas.
  • Oversee third-party deliverables, tracking progress against agreed milestones.
  • Ensure seamless transition from initiation to implementation, maintaining high service standards.
  • Provide support, training, and guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and produce test strategies and plans.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies.
  • Contribute to a positive project culture, upholding integrity, diligence, and fairness.

Who we're looking for:

You should be comfortable managing multiple projects and workstreams, influencing stakeholders, and adapting to project complexities. A proactive, problem-solving mindset and excellent communication skills are key to success in this role.

  • You must have the ability to manage projects within the SJP governance framework.
  • You must have a proven capability to lead, influence, and communicate with key SJP stakeholders.
  • Competent in managing project budgets.
  • You must be proficient in task prioritisation, meet deadlines, and have strong documentation skills.
  • Competent planning and Microsoft Project skills.
  • Experience of working in Waterfall and Agile methods.
  • Managing third-party suppliers in a project environment.
  • Understanding of financial services industry and its operational frameworks.
  • Project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP, Agile).
  • Experience of delivering regulatory change.
  • Project-related software experience (Jira, Project Online, Microsoft Project).

What's in it for you?

We reward you for the work you do, whether that’s through our discretionary annual bonus scheme that reflects both personal and company performance, a competitive annual leave allowance (28 days plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase an additional 5 days), or online rewards platform with a variety of discounts.
We also have benefits to support whatever stage of life you are in, including:

  • Competitive parental leave (28 weeks full pay)
  • Private medical insurance (optional taxable benefit)
  • 10% non-contributory pension (increasing with length of service)

Reasonable Adjustments

We're an equal opportunities employer and want to ensure our recruitment process is accessible and inclusive for all. If you require reasonable adjustment(s) at any stage, please let us know by emailing us at [email address].

Research tells us that applicants (especially those from underrepresented groups) can be discouraged from applying if they do not meet all the criteria or have been on an extended career break. If you think you would be a good match for this role and can demonstrate some transferable experience, please apply, regardless of whether you tick every box.
