Job summary

Carbon60 seeks an experienced Project Manager (Engineering & Technical) to lead healthcare projects in Cambridge from inception to completion, ensuring delivery within budget, programme, quality, and commercial goals.

You will manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate internal resources and subcontractors, maintain statutory compliance, and build strong client relationships in a high-profile hospital contract. DBS clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Healthcare project management and/or technical experience within a hospital environment.
  • Degree, Graduate, Higher Technician, or professional membership (RICS, CIOB, CEng or equivalent) in a construction or building services discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in construction, project management consultancy, or contracting.
  • Proven experience delivering projects under Traditional, Design & Build, Management Fee, or Principal Contractor arrangements.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets, P&L, and project portfolios.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams within direct and matrix management structures.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, contract administration, quality management, and risk management.
  • Experience managing consultants, subcontractors, and supply chain performance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and client relationship skills.
  • Commitment to quality, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to obtain the required security clearance.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Desirable: PF I environments, public sector projects, heritage projects.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership and commercial responsibility for allocated projects, including P&L management.
  • Deliver projects in accordance with contractual requirements, programme, budget, quality standards, and agreed commercial objectives.
  • Develop and manage project programmes, monitor progress, manage risks, and provide regular project updates to clients and stakeholders.
  • Prepare project approvals, tender documentation, bid reviews, and board approval submissions.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including internal resources, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring contractual obligations, SLAs, and company standards are achieved.
  • Work closely with Procurement to prepare tender documentation, evaluate submissions, and appoint subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, COSHH requirements, company policies, and statutory obligations.
  • Oversee the preparation of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Permits to Work, and other project compliance documentation.
  • Maintain project records, KPIs, quality assurance documentation, and management reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce regular reports covering project progress, pipeline, budgets, cash flow, and overall performance.
  • Promote effective collaboration across project teams, clients, suppliers, and other business functions.
  • Support business continuity requirements, including occasional out-of-hours management support.
  • Travel as required to support project delivery.

CONTRACT: Fixed Term Contract – 6 Months

HOURS: 40 Hours per Week (Monday to Friday)

THE ROLE:
