The Role
As a Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As a Project Manager, you will take accountability for critical business requirements from day one. You will be working within the Ships & Air team managing a diverse range of projects delivering into key customer programmes.

Day-to-day, you’ll be managing a multi-disciplinary team through the define and execution phases of the project and be responsible for design reviews, contract management, scheduling, project controls, internal and external reporting, and procurement activities.

  • Work alongside stakeholders from across the Ships & Air team, and wider business, to help drive delivery momentum and achieve the project goals.
  • Responsible for delivering contracts on time, to quality and within budget and will be the key interface with the customer.
  • Responsible for high performance and delivering the agreed scope of work.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with working days onsite, at either Ashton Vale, Bristol or Whetstone, Leicestershire and working days working from home.

Essential experience of the Project Manager

  • Experience in a project management environment within complex engineering environment (Defence industry preferred)
  • Experience managing million-pound contracts and above.
  • Knowledge of full project lifecycle, and project controls tools and how these tools operate to provide key information for decision making (governance, budgeting and forcasting, resource management etc.)
  • Commercially and financially astute, with a challenging mind-set.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills / stakeholder management – communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and with external bodies.

Qualifications for the Project Manager

  • Project Management Qualification or Project Professional Qualification or equivalent (or working towards).

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance but will need to obtain and achieve Security Check (SC) security clearance.
