Job description

Browne is recruiting for Projects Managers for expanding wastewater infrastructure programmes in the southeast.

In this exciting role, you'll manage all phases of the project from scoping and pricing through to delivery on site with expert cross-functional support from all the team at Browne. The role includes developing positive client relationships, scope and budget management, including management of subcontractors and suppliers. As Project Manager you’ll be instrumental in delivering projects safely. We are looking for motivated individuals who will fit with our collaborative culture and become part of our team.

Browne actively develops its people through on the job learning as well as formal training. You will have routes to access multiple training programmes including CECA’s industry specific training, leadership development through our parent company, Renew, as well as safety and commercial training. As the programme in the southeast expands there will be opportunities for career advancement for individuals following development pathways.

The Project Manager will report to the Contract Manager and work on our Southern Water framework (covering areas in Kent, Sussex and Hampshire), managing a portfolio of projects to deliver commercially successful, safely executed, high quality projects. We have offices local bases at Falmer and Chatham.

Your typical week will involve a combination of working from the offices and on sites. Our strong preference is to employ locally, for social value reasons as well as your wellbeing.

The projects you’ll be working on range in value up to c. £5m. The work is focused on environmental protection through design of solutions and installation of gravity and rising main pipelines, pumping stations, tanks etc. There will be huge opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding of wastewater infrastructure.

Our teams use smart technology and a hands-on approach to make sure every job is delivered safely and to a high standard. We support our clients through the full life of their assets, from construction and mechanical systems to long‑term maintenance.

Browne is part of Renew Holdings plc, a UK‑based group of specialist engineering companies.

What We’re Looking For

A team player with a can‑do attitude.

This fantastic opportunity for an experienced individual looking to grow their experience. The role supports a workforce both direct and subcontract and will suit someone who can work as part of a team but also act independently, thinking through issues and making informed decisions. It will suit someone who likes the challenge of working at pace with a planned approach. You'll need previous water and/or wastewater construction project management experience and an appetite to develop your commercial and contractual awareness.

To provide great service in this role you will need:

  • Experience in project management in delivering work on time and in budget

  • An ability to communicate effectively at all levels, internally and externally, inspiring confidence in clients, customers and third parties

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and MS project
  • Comfortable with managing service providers and sub‑contractors collaboratively and managing conflicts positively as required
