Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. in Brighton is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to oversee multi-disciplinary teams and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of production orders and complex design initiatives.

You will manage the full programme lifecycle from proposal to completion, coordinating with engineering and operations, and communicating objectives clearly to internal and external stakeholders to drive successful outcomes in defence and aerospace projects.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of project management experience in regulated industries such as Defence or Aerospace.
• Experience delivering production contracts in manufacturing environments.
• PM qualifications such as PMQ/PRINCE2/PMP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams to deliver projects on time, within scope and budget.
• Develop and implement integrated project schedules with the scheduler.
• Take complete ownership of budgets, resources, risks, and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate across departments and engage with customers to ensure timely milestones.
• Conduct risk reviews and develop mitigation strategies.
• Provide regular project status reports to management and assist with performance.
• Motivate and manage project team members and provide direction on programmatic issues.
• Manage bids and proposals end-to-end.
• Contribute to process improvements for the Project Management Team.

For over 70 years, L3Harris has designed and developed industry-leading carriage and release systems for fighter, rotary-wing and unmanned platforms and we design, manufacture and test a large portion of our release systems portfolio in our Brighton facility which offers 48,500 square feet of manufacturing space. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating multifunctional teams from engineering and operations disciplines to ensure successful execution of projects and production orders.

You will oversee the full programme lifecycle, from proposal preparation and submission through to project completion, while ensuring on‑time, on‑budget, and quality‑driven delivery.

This role will be pivotal in driving the success of customer orders, internal R&D projects, and complex Design & Development initiatives related to mission‑critical Defence and Aerospace products. As a Project Manager, you will ensure clear communication of project objectives, monitor progress, and be the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

• Project Execution: Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams, including internal and external stakeholders (e.g. subcontractors), to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.


• Schedule Creation & Implementation: Develop and implement integrated project schedules in collaboration with the company scheduler, ensuring all work packages are aligned with project timelines.


• Project Management: Take complete ownership of project budgets, resources, risks, and delivery schedules. Ensure all project activities are completed on time, cost, and quality targets.


• Cross-Department Coordination: Work across departments to ensure smooth execution of tasks. Coordinate and engage with customers as needed, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.


• Risk Management: Conduct regular project risk reviews, identify potential issues, and develop and deploy mitigation strategies.


• Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular project status reports to division-level management and assist senior management with programme and business performance.


• Team Leadership: Motivate and manage project team members, ensuring continuous development and providing direction on programmatic issues.


• Bid & Proposal Management: Manage the end-to-end process of bids and proposals, from submission to customer engagement.


• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of formal processes and procedures, focusing on enhancing the overall efficiency of the Project Management Team.

What you’ll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

• Experience: 4+ years of experience in project management, with a proven track record of managing complex projects, particularly in highly regulated industries (e.g. Defence, Aerospace). Experience in a manufacturing environment, delivering production contracts is desirable.


• Qualifications: Formal project management qualifications such as APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ), PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or equivalent project/programme management experience.
