Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is looking for an experienced interim Project Manager in Birmingham to lead key work packages in a net-zero initiative. This hybrid role requires proven project management experience, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and a formal project management qualification. The contract is for 6 months, paying between £300-£350 per day.

Job description

NEW ROLE: Project Manager (Net Zero)
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid, up to 4 days/week from home)
Contract: 6-month contract, full-time

Are you passionate about driving the transition to net-zero? Do you thrive in fast-paced, complex project environments? We're looking for an experienced interim Project Manager to join one of their key programmes - a pioneering initiative funded by DESNZ to unlock private investment in local net-zero projects across the West Midlands. As Energy Project Manager, you'll lead the delivery of key work packages within the programme.

This role is paying between £300-£350 per day, and the successful candidate will be office-based one day per week.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning and maintaining delivery plans, risk registers, and reporting for multiple workstreams.
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities, community groups, and investors.
  • Supporting financial forecasting and reporting.
  • Facilitating engagement and dissemination activities to promote programme outcomes.

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Proven experience in project management through delivery to completion.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, especially with public sector and community organisations.
  • Resilience and adaptability in complex delivery environments.
  • A formal project management qualification (e.g. APM, Prince2, MSP).
  • Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
