Job description

We're looking for a Project Manager to join our Transportation team based in Birmingham. What will you be responsible for?

As a Project Manager, you'll support the management of construction sites within the Project Management team, ensuring project delivery aligns with customer objectives while maintaining health and safety, quality, environmental standards, and cost control. You'll be responsible for delivering projects to the specified quality, schedule, and maximizing commercial performance. You'll work closely with the Senior Construction Manager, senior management, designers, subcontractors, and Programme Managers to ensure schemes are completed safely, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

Your Day-to-Day Will Include
  • Overall responsibility for successful delivery of projects in the electrical sector (Lighting & Signals Upgrades) within Birmingham City Council areas.
  • Ensuring work is delivered to the specified quality without defects.
  • Leading site supervisors and subcontractors, ensuring safety, environmental standards, and quality are met, and implementing project plans, RAMS, ITPs, and other safe systems of work in line with Kier procedures.
  • Maximizing contract performance by working with the Programme Manager to mitigate delays and costs.
  • Producing procurement schedules and coordinating with the procurement department to ensure adequate resources.
What are we looking for?
This Role of Project Manager Is Great For You If
  • You have experience in County Council and inner-city electrical asset projects in regulated environments, with the ability to lead and motivate teams to high compliance standards.
  • You possess good knowledge of electrical specifications, testing regimes, and hold CSCS (Site Manager), SMSTS / IOSH Managing Safely certifications, with problem-solving skills to challenge designs and resolve issues.
  • You have managed subcontractors valued up to £5m, and are familiar with safe systems of work, contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme, and risk management.
