Mechanical Project Manager - Energy Centre Works
Location: East Birmingham
Rate: 350- 400 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: 6-month contract Full-time 5 days on-site
TEC Partners are working on behalf of a key client seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead a critical package of work as part of a major on-site energy infrastructure upgrade.
This is a 6-month contract role, based full-time on-site in East Birmingham, supporting a time-sensitive programme of mechanical works within a live healthcare environment.
Work closely with the M&E Manager to coordinate and manage contractors delivering key mechanical services, including district heating flushing and DHW chlorination.
Oversee commissioning activities for plantroom skids including LTHW and DHW systems.
Support works related to AHU coil replacements.
Liaise with the Trust, main contractor (CEF), and various subcontractors to align and drive delivery of planned works.
Scope and manage the design, procurement, and installation of a temporary steam boiler package, including coordination of contractors.
Oversee contractor-led Energy Centre Phase 2 works, including steam boiler removal, stack replacement (by others), and installation of new LTHW boilers and associated pipework.
Review technical drawings and programmes, providing on-site leadership to ensure deadlines are met.
Coordinate with the Trust on logistics, including deliveries, road closures, and on-site movement.
Collaborate closely with the Site Manager and Site Engineer to drive daily activities forward and maintain programme momentum.
Proven experience in managing mechanical construction projects, particularly within energy or plantroom environments.
Strong understanding of steam systems, LTHW boilers, plate heat exchangers, and mechanical commissioning processes.
Prior experience in hospital or healthcare environments is highly desirable.
Able to interpret and review technical drawings and construction programmes.
Comfortable managing subcontractors and leading project delivery from the ground.
Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
Ability to work under pressure and deliver within tight timeframes.
This is a great opportunity to play a leading role in delivering a critical mechanical package on a high-profile healthcare infrastructure project. Full-time presence on-site (Monday to Friday) is required for the duration of the contract.
