Join our dedicated team in NHSBT organ donation and transplantation. Youll be part of a programme team at the forefront of organ transplantation projects, ultimately saving and improving lives.

The establishment of a national Assessment and Recovery Centre (ARC) service will extend equitable access to life-saving products and treatments to everyone that needs them and bridge the gap between shortage of organs available and demand.

You will have an innovative, problem-solving approach, with strong stakeholder management skills and experience in implementing risk management and governance processes. Note: This role offers a hybrid working arrangement. However, you will be assigned a base location at one of NHSBTs main centres. The final base location to be confirmed.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be responsible for managing NHSBT OTDT projects to timely and successful conclusions. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring that intended project outcomes are in alignment with the business strategies, that all project budgets are managed effectively, and all operational needs are met.
• Management of specific projects, ensuring that they are managed to the highest professional standards and comply with all relevant internal and external standards, regulation and instructions.
• Deputising for the Programme and Portfolio Manager as required and supporting assurance of projects and programmes across the organisation.
• Supporting OTDT portfolio build planning and reporting processes.
• Managing more than one project at any given time at different stages in their lifecycle.
• Participating in the development and improvement of the NHSBT Portfolio, Programme and Project Management tools and methods.
• Maintenance of all project artefacts, for example project/programme board update packs, project plans, runbooks, RAIDD logs.

The role is hybrid, currently predominantly working from home and does have a requirement to travel and spend time away from base, which can involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Possess a Masters degree in relevant subject OR demonstrable knowledge and experience to Masters level.
• Evidence of training in project management methods (e.g. PRINCE II practitioner, agile, waterfall)
• Demonstrate commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).

Experience

• Significant project management experience, including managing risk and change, production of robust business cases, managing and monitoring budgets
• Experience of using project management tools and software to support effect scoping, planning, implementing, and monitoring progress. Experience of managing resources, including those not under direct line management control
• Ability to manage project workstreams, including negotiating and arranging for the appropriate levels of resources from within OTDT, monitoring project risks and devising an appropriate risk management strategy for each of them.
• Knowledge of how to effectively close projects and implement manage lessons learnt throughout the project lifecycle
• Good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office tools, in particular Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and Visio
