The Role

SALARY: Starting from £38,000 per annum (Skills and experience dependent)

REPORTS TO: PMO Manager

LOCATION: Cardiff

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to the Cluster Project Teams to deliver Projects in line with strategy from land identification through to planning consent, construction and operation;
  • Consult and coordinate with various stakeholders including: Senior Project Managers (SPMs), Project Managers (PMs), Associate Project Managers (APMs) and Project Scheduler, etc on Project Reporting, including:
  • Responsible for coordinating the preparation, collation, review analysis, and update of Project Management Reports (PMRs) and related Project reports for publication for committee meetings;
  • Responsible to assure the quality and accuracy of all project data and artefacts produced by the Cluster Project Teams;
  • To analyse performance of Projects against the agreed Baseline and communicate it to the Cluster Project Teams to ensure effective progress;
  • Manage Project change through robust assumptions management and change control mitigation to ensure that only documented and authorised changes are made at the right level;
  • Ensure ongoing risk assessments and mitigations across all Projects and risk registers are reviewed and updated (Cluster Project Team responsible for Project Risk Registers);
  • Maintain reporting whilst ensuring that schedules and Projects adhere to the Portfolio Governance Framework processes;
  • Report progress, performance, and forecasts of Projects to the Development Director and SPMs;
  • Work with Cluster Project Team and Finance Team to ensure that contractor’s and supplier’s data is received in a timely manner, in an appropriate format and to the required quality, including:
  • Annual budget forecasting – PMs should take the lead – PMO should ensure it has been completed and provide Portfolio analysis;
  • Quarterly forecast utilisation for Finance drawdowns & analysis;
  • Prepare evidence for PMs to approve invoices;
  • Support Cluster Project Team with the creation of purchase orders (POs) for any new appointments / variations and liaise with consultants for a smooth invoice process / tracking spend against PO;
  • Work with the Cluster Project Teams in the drafting of Contract Approval Forms (CAFs) for contract work, ensuring collation and timeous submission of for all necessary approvals;
  • Support the implementation and management of Project Management & Reporting software and processes;
  • Analyse procurement activities for each Project and monitor the delivery of the scope of works provided by external consultants against budget and schedule, including;
  • Support the preparation of Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents for any Project related work packages required;
  • Arrange contracts for drafting to final signatories through dialogue with the Consultant, in-house Legal, Finance, PM, SPM and Project Director;
  • Update site visit trackers and risk assessments;
  • Provide inputs such as financial modelling or process of reviewing Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) /Submission documents into Key Decision Sheet (KDS)’ for key milestones;
  • Keeping a track of document reviews for key milestones, ensuring review times and receipts of chapters are scheduled in calendars for the relevant people; and,
  • In consultation with the APMs, regularly updating the Development of National Significance (DNS) Tracker to keep up to date on any DNS Applications.

  • Strong project reporting and documentation skills, ensuring that all project data is accurate, aligned with the baseline, and easily accessible.
  • Proficiency in monitoring project performance against agreed baselines and identifying any deviations or risks that may affect project delivery.
  • Proficient IT skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS project.
  • Handling and co-ordinating inputs from team members.
  • Motivated and comfortable working as part of a team or on an individual basis.
  • An understanding of, and experience in, working in the renewable energy industry would be an advantage.
  • Welsh language skills would be an advantage.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a similar role in an environmental, engineering, technical, business systems based industry or have a relevant professional/academic qualification within either Planning or Environmental disciplines.
