Job description

Join us as an AVP within our Legal Supplier Management (LSM) team at Barclays. This team is responsible for all aspects of Barclays engagement with legal vendors, including:

  • Panel strategy and management
  • Legal instruction processes
  • Financial reporting
  • Temporary resourcing
  • Technology use and innovation
  • Project management of major matters

The legal function aims to optimize value from the bank’s panel of legal suppliers and ensure appropriate cost controls. In 2025, this panel will undergo a refresh, and the Legal Supplier Manager will collaborate with lawyers, business areas, sourcing, and legal suppliers to deliver this project. The role also involves managing ongoing operational requirements in accordance with the existing supplier management framework.

Key skills required for this role include:
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to analyze data and communicate insights clearly through visual, written, and verbal means
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with senior stakeholders
  • Experience in fast-paced environments with the ability to prioritize workload

The role may assess skills such as risk management, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology skills, alongside technical job-specific skills.

This position is based in Glasgow and is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Purpose of the role

To manage and monitor supplier risk and performance in line with Barclays' Third Party Service Provider Policy and Standards, through control execution, commercial management, and relationship and risk management.

Accountabilities
  • Managing supplier control processes, overseeing supplier performance, and monitoring KPIs
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to meet procurement needs, policies, and standards, mitigate risks, and align supplier relationships with business strategies
  • Identifying suitable suppliers through market research, capabilities analysis, and contract negotiations
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends related to supplier management tools and techniques
  • Monitoring supplier control operations to meet standards and contractual obligations
  • Supporting global regulatory requests and examinations in collaboration with regulatory teams
