Job Description:

The Project Management Lead accomplishes results through managing professional teams and departments. They integrate subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area, contribute to standards, and understand how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function. They require basic commercial awareness, developed communication and diplomacy skills to guide, influence, and convince colleagues and external customers. They are responsible for volume, quality, timeliness, and delivery of end results, and may have responsibilities for planning, budgeting, and policy formulation within their area. They are involved in short-term planning and resource planning. They have full management responsibility for a team, including performance evaluations, hiring, disciplinary actions, and budget approval.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all technology components of diverse, moderately complex IT projects, including planning, execution, timing, functionality, quality, and cost.
  • Use expertise and leadership skills to direct staff and resolve issues to meet project goals.
  • Communicate with end-users to provide timely and accurate updates.
  • Share responsibility for budget, policy, and planning.
  • Help formulate strategies for IT project leadership and other areas.
  • Evaluate performance and make decisions on personnel actions.
  • Apply understanding of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues.
  • Understand how IT project leadership areas collectively contribute to business goals.
  • Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of complex information.
  • Impact IT project leadership through responsibility for delivery and budget management.
  • Follow essential procedures and help define standards.
  • Persuade and influence others through communication and diplomacy; negotiate with external parties if needed.
  • Assess risks in business decisions, ensure compliance, and manage control issues transparently.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Project Manager within a financial institution, supporting technology functions preferred.
  • Experience in project administration and operational backgrounds.
  • Experience in finance and process administration, supporting technology or business management teams.
  • Strong influencing, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to engage with senior management and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and improve processes.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and own parts of projects.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and make or influence decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing and negotiating with senior leaders.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust across regions and develop partnerships.
  • Work well under pressure, enthusiastic, diligent, and positive attitude.

Nice to have:

  • Experience managing or partnering with technology functions is preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or university degree, or equivalent experience; a Master’s degree is a plus.
