We’re recruiting for students to join us our Project Management Programme, working at Hinkley Point C (HPC), the largest construction project in Europe.

Training, development, and support for you

Over the course of this 12-month programme, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in hands-on learning, working on real-world challenges that directly impact the energy industry. Most of your learning will be on the job, supported by your mentor and the teams around you. You’ll have a chance to apply your academic training to genuine industry problems while completing modules that contribute towards your degree.

Previous students on a Project Management Industrial Placement have been involved in projects such as:

• Supporting the delivery of critical packages of works, including the preparation and installation of primary circuit components in the heart of the nuclear reactor.
• Working alongside the construction and contractor teams to deliver important enabling works to allow major milestones to be achieved; including readiness of the major cranes used to build the plant.
• Taking the lead on smaller work packages, including resolution of risks and issues, to obtain first hand experience of the range of skills required in the role and actually deliver a part of the plant’s construction journey.
• Looking at how radiation protection supports the building and operational life of new power stations; developing the skills necessary to support a wide range of teams in order to provide advice on radiation protection.
• Assisting in running, maintaining, and developing the condition monitoring programme throughout a plant.
• Supporting improvements to safety through communications campaigns, training, and other improvement projects.

You will be based at Hinkley Point C (HPC) construction site or Satellite Delivery Centre, both located in Bridgwater.

Who you are

We are looking for candidates who are on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Project Management, Engineering or Science. You should possess strong technical and analytical skills, along with a genuine desire to learn and develop new capabilities. A questioning attitude, good teamwork, and effective communication skills are also essential qualities we seek.
