Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a Project Leader Engineering to drive the delivery of complex engineering projects from London Heathrow. You will collaborate with engineering management, customers, and external partners to ensure safe, sustainable, and on-time delivery of high-quality solutions.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, coordination of multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to project management best practices.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience delivering complex engineering projects in dynamic, operational environments.
• Experience with automated or complex integrated systems such as: Baggage Handling Systems, Material Handling Systems, Industrial Automation, Logistics & Distribution Automation, Manufacturing Systems, Transportation Infrastructure.
• Strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of planning, scheduling, risk management, scope control, stakeholder management, and budget management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; proficiency with MS Office and project planning/tools.

Project Leader Engineering

Reports to: Senior Project Manager Engineering

Location: London Heathrow

Contract Type: Permanent

Introduction to the Role

As a Project Leader Engineering, you will play a key role in delivering complex engineering projects within a collaborative and supportive environment. You will work closely with engineering project management teams, customers, and external partners to ensure high-quality technical solutions are delivered safely, sustainably, and on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and promote a safety-first culture, ensuring technical health and safety considerations are embedded into designs from the outset.
• Lead multidisciplinary internal and external engineering teams, providing clear technical direction and accountability to achieve successful project delivery.
• Create and maintain clear, achievable engineering project plans that support collaboration and transparency.
• Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, fostering an inclusive and supportive team environment.
• Manage engineering budgets by identifying risks and opportunities and supporting informed decision-making.
• Own and manage the delivery of technical solutions, ensuring systems are designed, integrated, and delivered to meet agreed performance, quality, safety, and customer requirements.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering and project management practices, sharing knowledge and supporting the wider engineering community.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience delivering complex engineering projects within dynamic, operationally critical environments, balancing customer requirements, technical performance, safety, and project objectives.
• Experience working with automated or complex integrated systems such as:
  • Baggage Handling Systems
  • Material Handling Systems
  • Industrial Automation
  • Logistics & Distribution Automation
  • Manufacturing Systems
  • Transportation Infrastructure
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Capable of balancing detailed technical decision-making with wider project, operational, customer, and business objectives.
• Working knowledge of engineering project management principles, including:

  • Scope Control
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Budget Management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard project planning/reporting tools.
• Professionally accredited engineer or willing to work towards professional registration.
