Job summary

Totum Partners is working with a leading international law firm to recruit a Project Finance Manager in Greater London. This high-profile role supports a portfolio of complex, global transformation programmes with approximately £30m in project value, acting as the finance lead to senior stakeholders.

You will provide robust financial insight, governance and control, lead a small accounting team, and ensure appropriate treatment of capital and revenue expenditure in accordance with accounting

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with at least 3 years post-qualification experience.
• Strong background in project accounting for large programmes.
• Experience reviewing business cases and governance.

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior leadership, PMO teams and Project Managers throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Review and challenge the financial assumptions underpinning business cases.
• Provide independent financial assurance on significant project investment.
• Monitor expenditure against agreed budgets and identify emerging risks, sensitivities and variances.
• Advise project teams on project accounting, cash flow, forecasting, VAT and international cost allocation.
• Ensure appropriate treatment of capital and revenue expenditure in line with relevant accounting standards.
• Lead post-project financial reviews and share lessons learned across the project community.
• Develop effective financial processes and controls for new initiatives.
• Supervise and review the work of two project accounting team members.

Totum Partners is delighted to be working with a leading international law firm to recruit a Project Finance Manager.

This is a high-profile role supporting a portfolio of complex, global transformation programmes, including major technology, AI and wider business change initiatives. Acting as the finance lead and trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, you will provide robust financial insight, governance and control across a project portfolio of approximately £30m.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior leadership, PMO teams and Project Managers throughout the full project lifecycle
• Review and challenge the financial assumptions underpinning business cases
• Provide independent financial assurance on significant project investment
• Monitor expenditure against agreed budgets and identify emerging risks, sensitivities and variances
• Advise project teams on project accounting, cash flow, forecasting, VAT and international cost allocation
• Ensure appropriate treatment of capital and revenue expenditure in line with relevant accounting standards

About you

You will be a qualified accountant with at least three years’ post-qualified experience (as a guide) and a strong background in project accounting. You will be comfortable working across large, complex programmes and constructively challenging senior stakeholders.

You will also bring:

• Strong financial modelling and advanced Excel skills
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Confidence working in a complex, international environment
• The ability to translate detailed financial information into clear commercial insight
• A diplomatic but robust approach
• Strong organisation, accuracy and attention to detail

Experience using SAP and a project management qualification would be advantageous.
