The Opportunity

Leonardo UK is a leader in airborne sensing and Defensive Aids equipment on military platforms worldwide. The company operates across multiple Lines of Business (LoB) in key sites across southern England and Scotland, with various business sectors aligned to product portfolios and customer bases.

This Project Engineering Manager (PEM) role is within the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) sector for the NATO JEWCS Project. The PEM is responsible for the success of engineering activities on their assigned project, leading day-to-day work packages, and ensuring engineering outcomes meet policies and improvement goals.

The PEM collaborates with the Head of Engineering Projects, keeps informed of project status, and supports internal and external engagements. They will also mentor and develop their engineering team.

This position can be based in Luton with hybrid working options.

What You Will Do
  • Lead engineering aspects of the project, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
  • Manage cross-site, multi-disciplinary engineering teams with clearly defined roles.
  • Build positive relationships with customers and partners to deliver project capabilities.
  • Maintain communication across engineering teams, project managers, and stakeholders.
  • Work with the Systems Design Authority on technical progress and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure design solutions meet end-user requirements, are reliable, documented, and compatible with the environment.
  • Control project configuration and change management to maximize design reuse.
  • Support supplier management and make-or-buy decisions.
  • Capture candidate solutions, trade-offs, and end-user engagement results.
  • Travel within the UK to collaborate with teams, customers, and industry partners.

  • Experience in engineering management and project delivery.
  • Engineering or scientific degree (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead teams across sites.
