Join Our Team as a Project Engineer

Are you an experienced Project Engineer with a background in mechanical engineering, civil infrastructure, or MEP projects (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing)? Perhaps you have 4-5 years of experience in Project Management and a Mechanical Engineering degree, and you're looking for the next step in your career? If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you!

We're looking for a Project Engineer to join our growing team at Rendesco. Your first project will be to support the delivery of a groundbreaking, sustainable development—a pioneering low-carbon heating and cooling network project. After completion of this project (12-18 months), we have further exciting projects that you will have the opportunity to manage.

The first project:

This exciting project involves the creation of a state-of-the-art, low-carbon heating and cooling network for a large, forward-thinking residential and commercial development. The project will incorporate innovative, renewable energy solutions, including water-source heat pumps, to provide sustainable heating and cooling for hundreds of homes and commercial spaces. The aim is to deliver significant reductions in CO2 emissions, contributing to a cleaner, greener future for both residents and businesses.

Key project features:

  1. Low-carbon heating and cooling using cutting-edge technology
  2. Servicing a community of residential homes and commercial spaces
  3. Providing energy-efficient solutions that deliver 90% less CO2 emissions than traditional gas boilers and 50% less CO2 emissions than air-source heat pumps
  4. Expected annual energy savings of up to £160 per home for a typical three-bedroom house
  5. Aiming to set new standards in energy efficiency and sustainability in the UK

We're looking for someone who has:

  1. Mechanical Engineering Degree (or related field)
  2. 4-5 years of experience in a mechanical, civil, or MEP engineering role, ready for the next step in their career
  3. Experience working on MEP projects or civil infrastructure projects, preferably with experience in sustainable or renewable energy
  4. Strong leadership and the ability to manage a team and collaborate effectively across disciplines
  5. Experience in pipefitting, hydraulic systems, or similar technical roles (ideal, but not essential)
  6. A candidate from a forces background would be advantageous
  7. A methodical, detail-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and team management

What's The Role?

As a Project Engineer, you will be an integral part of this transformational project, overseeing and supervising the on-site delivery of the heat network infrastructure, including:

  1. Civil works
  2. Pipelaying (800mm to 40mm)
  3. Plantroom structures
  4. Mechanical & electrical installations
  5. Heat Interface Unit (HIU) installations

This is a hands-on, supervisory role that requires attention to detail, coordination, and an ability to solve complex technical problems on-site. You'll be responsible for ensuring high-quality delivery while collaborating with sub-contractors, managing health & safety, and handling key project reporting. You will be based on-site, full-time, and have the opportunity to lead impactful work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Coordination: Manage materials, equipment, and subcontractor teams on-site.
  2. Quality Control: Oversee inspections and ensure all work meets industry and Rendesco standards.
  3. MEP Integration: Supervise and integrate MEP systems (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), including heat pumps, pipework, and residential connections.
  4. Engineering Excellence: Provide technical oversight to ensure efficient and high-quality installation solutions.
  5. Commissioning: Work closely with commissioning engineers to ensure a seamless handover of systems and infrastructure.

Job benefits

  1. Up to £60,000 basic salary (dependant on experience)
  2. Private medical insurance (after probation)
  3. EV Salary Sacrifice Scheme
  4. £30 monthly phone contribution
  5. 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)
  6. Discretionary performance-related bonus
