An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineering Manager within the RF Power division based in Chelmsford. You will manage one of the RF Power project streams—Pulse Power, Tubes, Novel Systems (MPMs/TWTA), or RFSS—ensuring that these complex engineering projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards. These projects include multi-projects and encompass both customer-facing and internal R&D initiatives.

What will you be doing:
  • Coordinating engineering teams, other departments, and third-party suppliers for successful project execution.
  • Ensuring roles and tasks are clearly defined, understood, and delivered.
  • Planning, costing, and resourcing project activities to achieve program goals cost-effectively.

  • Supporting business development efforts, including securing new business and setting strategies.
  • Line managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, managing resources, and recruiting.
  • Driving team performance through setting objectives, providing feedback, and identifying training needs.
  • Supporting and coaching junior team members to develop project management capabilities.
You will have:
  • Extensive experience managing engineering projects from bid to production.
  • Proven ability to energize teams to meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good judgment—knowing when to own, brief, or escalate issues.
  • Proficiency in project management tools like MS Project and MS Project Server; knowledge of SAP is beneficial.
  • Eligibility for Security Clearance and UK nationality.
