Leonardo Project Engineering Lead (PEL) - Training Academy

Leonardo is seeking a Project Engineering Lead (PEL) within the Training Academy, part of the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) sector of our EW business. The PEL is responsible for the success of all training activities on their assigned project, providing clear expectations, milestones, and ensuring compliance with company policies & procedures.

The PEL also develops the Training Team through mentoring, coaching, setting objectives, and performance appraisal.

This position is based at our Lincoln office.

Responsibilities as a PEL
  1. Lead training design, development, and delivery, ensuring technical quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
  2. Manage personnel, defining team roles clearly.
  3. Build positive relationships with customers and partners to deliver training capabilities.
  4. Maintain communication across engineering management, the Academy IPT lead, project managers, and functional heads.
  5. Coordinate with training governance and systems design authorities on technical progress and risk mitigation.
  6. Ensure training solutions meet end-user requirements, are fully documented, and align with business strategies.
  7. Control training configuration and change management to maximize design reuse.
  8. Lead bids and estimates from a technical perspective.
  9. Support supplier management and make-or-buy decisions.
  10. Capture concept solutions, trade-off studies, and end-user engagement outcomes.

Travel within the UK or abroad may be required, working alongside various teams, customers, end users, and industry partners.

Candidate Requirements
Essential:
  • Strong technical/engineering background, ideally in EW or training domains.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective stakeholder communication abilities.
  • Leadership qualities with teamwork skills.
  • Experience across the full engineering development lifecycle.
Desirable:
  • Degree (or equivalent) in engineering or technical field.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Warfare Operational Support.
  • Commercial and business awareness.

Security clearance is required.
