Project Engineer – Utility Scale Solar/BESS projects

UK – Remote with some travel

Circular Resourcing is recruiting a Project Engineer with experience in Solar PV and BESS / Energy Storage.

This is a permanent role with a global engineering consultancy expanding in the UK and European markets.

The Owner’s Engineering Department provides services for developers, owners, and operators of utility-scale PV solar projects, covering:

• EPC scope of work
• Technical exhibit development
• RFP development and evaluation
• PV and HV design review
• Construction oversight and quality inspections
• Contractual documentation review
• Due diligence on Capex, Opex, and schedules
• Testing, commissioning, and milestone verification
• Warranty, O&M support, and technical troubleshooting

Responsibilities:

Oversee execution of utility-scale PV and BESS projects through development, design, construction, and commissioning phases.

Key tasks include:

• Maintaining knowledge of project documentation (civil, electrical, structural plans, EPC contracts, permits, schedules)
• Managing project execution to meet scope, cost, schedule, and quality goals
• Monitoring stakeholder communications, preparing status reports, and risk mitigation
• Supporting project documentation management
• Reviewing progress reports and providing recommendations
• Providing technical support for construction methodologies and evaluating variations
• Reviewing and approving submittals, RFIs, NCRs, ensuring compliance with contracts and local conditions
• Collaborating with EPC contractors and internal teams to review and approve design packages, ensuring compliance and addressing technical concerns
• Supporting delivery of "as built" drawings and defect reports

Required Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in Solar PV or BESS project management, engineering, or construction
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
• Strong understanding of PV, BESS, and substation construction standards and processes
• Ability to interpret construction documents and diagrams
• Knowledge of solar PV and BESS components and systems
• Advanced understanding of electrical, civil, structural design principles and standards
• Knowledge of grid codes and compliance requirements
