Summary:
The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing project delivery, ensuring site works are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. This role involves managing subcontractors, liaising with the supply chain, and supporting the Project Manager to achieve successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination:
- Review and analyze contract documents, project plans, and specifications, providing necessary feedback.
- Coordinate with departments, Project Engineers/Managers, and stakeholders to meet project milestones.
- Assist in scheduling and conducting project review meetings, focusing on contract terms, costs, scope, and timelines.
- Report on project status, including variations and issues, to the Project Manager.
- Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders to ensure smooth project progress.
- Project Management Support:
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the project.
- Monitor contract variations and report changes to scope, cost, and delivery.
- Prepare progress reports and maintain documentation for client meetings.
- Manage project budgets, monitor costs, and forecast delivery timelines.
- Support warranty management and address warranty claims.
- Supervise subcontractors and supply chain teams, ensuring safety and quality compliance.
- Assist in developing and implementing the Construction Phase Plan.
- Oversee site mobilization and conduct site inductions.
- Review and ensure adherence to RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements).
- Manage logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials to site.
- Enforce safety regulations, including CDM compliance, on-site.
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in engineering or project management, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of NEC contract conditions.
- CSR Gold Card and First Aid at Work certification.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication skills for interacting with technical, commercial, and client stakeholders.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Project, and ERP systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Attention to detail and compliance.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in a small, multi-disciplinary team.
- CAD experience is a plus.
- Travel & Flexibility:
- Travel within Northern Ireland for site visits.
- Occasional overnight stays with prior planning.
- Role involves both office and on-site work, with accommodations available for disabilities.
