About the role

Join Balfour Beatty as an OHL Project Engineer – Power T&D (UK-Wide)

Balfour Beatty is seeking a talented Overhead Line (OHL) Project Engineer to join our Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team. This role involves supporting National Grid projects across the UK, working on critical infrastructure that powers millions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and formalising engineered delivery solutions
  • Leading work parties to execute these solutions safely and effectively
  • Monitoring project compliance with time, cost, quality, and safety standards
  • Providing leadership and fostering a safety-focused culture on site
  • Managing stakeholder expectations and project objectives for successful delivery

What you'll be doing

  • Maintaining accurate project records
  • Preparing reports and liaising with stakeholders
  • Ensuring reports provide relevant information for informed decision-making
  • Developing and implementing technical information and drawings into delivery
  • Understanding and specifying plant and equipment requirements
  • Focusing on Zero Harm and staying updated with legislation changes
  • Ensuring safety and welfare of the public, employees, and supply chain
  • Conducting safety tours and promoting safety initiatives
  • Supporting accident/incident investigations
  • Monitoring safety management system effectiveness and implementing improvements
  • Writing and reviewing RAMS, and accepting subcontractor RAMS
  • Identifying, reporting risks and hazards
  • Ensuring workforce sufficiency and competency
  • Managing safety documentation and audits
  • Assisting in risk/opportunity reviews and implementing changes
  • Developing and updating resource-loaded schedules

The role holder may also have:

  • A qualification in construction/engineering or equivalent experience
  • Working towards or holding APM PFQ/PMQ
