Job summary

Insight Executive Group in the Essex NHS estate is seeking a senior estates engineer to lead delivery of capital and minor works across a hospital site. You will take schemes from brief through design, procurement and construction to handover, coordinating across mechanical, electrical and building services.

The role requires delivery in a live environment, strong knowledge of HTMs/HBNs and CDM, and proven contractor management on occupied sites.

Qualifications

• Engineering background in mechanical, electrical or building services.
• Experience delivering estates/capital projects in healthcare/NHS or similar live environment.
• Strong knowledge of HTMs, HBNs, statutory compliance and CDM.
• Experience managing contractors, consultants and multi-disciplinary works on occupied sites.
• Able to own project documentation, programme and budget.

Responsibilities

• Manage estates capital and minor works projects from inception to completion and handover.
• Provide technical engineering advice across mechanical, electrical and building services elements of schemes.
• Prepare and review scopes, specifications, tender documentation and technical drawings.
• Manage contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers on site, monitoring quality, programme and cost.
• Ensure all works are delivered in line with HTMs, HBNs, statutory compliance and safe systems of work.
• Coordinate with the operational estates team and clinical stakeholders to minimise disruption to services.
• Manage project budgets and reporting, and support the wider capital and backlog programme.
• Ensure permits to work, RAMS and handover documentation (O&M, as-builts) are complete and compliant.

Contract Details:

• Location: Essex, on site
• Rate: £250 to £300 per day, Outside IR35
• Working pattern: Full time, on site

The role

Reporting into the Estates leadership team, you will lead the delivery of estates capital and minor works projects across the hospital site, taking a scheme from brief through design, procurement and construction to handover. Working across mechanical, electrical and building disciplines, you'll act as the technical lead on your projects, managing contractors and consultants and keeping delivery safe, compliant and on programme in a live acute healthcare environment.

What we're looking for

• Engineering background (mechanical, electrical or building services), ONC/HNC/degree or equivalent
• Proven experience delivering estates or capital projects within a healthcare/NHS estate or a comparably complex live environment
• Strong working knowledge of HTMs, HBNs, statutory compliance and CDM
• Confident managing contractors, consultants and multi-disciplinary works on an occupied site
• Comfortable owning project documentation, programme and budget
