Are you an experienced Project Engineer looking for an exciting new opportunity within the Highways Team at West Berkshire Council? We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team, working on a wide range of engineering projects to deliver high-quality highway infrastructure improvements for our local community.
The Role
As a Project Engineer, you will report to the Principal Engineer and be responsible for:
- Assist and lead in the delivery of engineering projects from inception to completion, including feasibility studies, design, procurement, and contract management.
- Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, external partners, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
- Conducting site visits and inspections to assess project progress and compliance with design specifications.
- Providing technical advice and support to colleagues and members of the Council.
- Undertaking data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform engineering decisions.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the improvement of highway infrastructure in West Berkshire, making a real difference to the local community.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Relevant engineering qualification (degree or equivalent)
- Experience in highway engineering
- Sound knowledge of highway engineering principles, practices, and legislation.
- Proficient in using engineering design software and tools such as AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a problem-solving mindset.
