Job summary

The Holt is seeking a Project/Mechanical Engineer for a defence project in Redditch. The role is hybrid (3-4 days on-site, Mon-Thurs 8:00-17:00, Fri 8:00-12:00), offering a rate of £17.50 per hour.

You will support lifecycle extension of a legacy high-pressure inert gas system and ensure continued readiness. You will conduct investigations, develop procedures, manage obsolescence, assess compliance, and maintain key documents.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting engineering projects with complex mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, testing, and documentation processes.
• Ability to manage obsolescence issues with technical justifications.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients and team members.
• SC clearance or ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Conduct strip and survey investigations, documenting and photographing existing build and test setups.
• Develop assembly and test procedures, along with maintenance documentation such as repair, overhaul, and spares planning.
• Lead obsolescence removal efforts, documenting changes and providing justifications for materials, processes, and components like seals and consumables.
• Assess product compliance, considering obsolescence impacts on qualification, and recommend testing if needed.
• Update critical documentation including FMECA and customer reports.
• Provide project oversight, act as the main customer contact, and maintain project plans.
• Prepare cost estimates and proposals for upcoming project phases.
