Project Engineer - Marine, Essex, GBP35,000 Circa + Benefits

Unknown Resourcing is seeking a Project Engineer - Marine for our leading R&D Engineering client in Essex. The Project Engineer Marine opportunity is an exciting permanent position to contribute to the advancement of future Marine Hydrogen technology. The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for Mechanical Design and Project Engineering of transportation Hydrogen development projects. Experience in Hydrogen / H2, Sustainable, Renewable Energy, or Decarbonisation would be advantageous.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support projects with BOM control and management of subcontract design and analysis activities.
  2. Assist in designing and analyzing systems, including component selection, system integration, and performance optimization.
  3. Provide solutions for in-field failures and issues on products and projects.
  4. Identify and troubleshoot technical challenges and product failures observed during operation, proposing innovative solutions.
  5. Support the introduction of solutions into products/projects under the supervision of the Principal Engineer.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, electrical, procurement, workshop, and external partners, to meet project objectives.
  7. Participate in testing protocols, data collection, and validation to ensure system reliability and safety.
  8. Contribute to quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
  9. Maintain documentation related to design, development, and calibration work in line with business requirements.
  10. Adhere to all Health & Safety and Quality & Environmental policies relevant to the work areas.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering.
  2. Interest and passion for decarbonisation and technologies suitable for harsh environments (high TRL technologies).
  3. Creative and out-of-the-box thinking, with a focus on simplicity.
  4. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and teamwork abilities.
  6. Familiarity with engineering software tools (e.g., Matlab/Simulink) and CAD design (e.g., CATIA/Solidworks) is a plus.
  7. Knowledge of hydrogen safety protocols and regulations is advantageous.
  8. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  9. Adaptability to a fast-changing industry, with the ability to bring new ideas to development teams.
  10. Resilient, energetic, enthusiastic, and receptive to new ideas in a dynamic environment.
