Job description

PROJECT MANAGER / ENGINEER

DUNDEE / HYBRID WORKING POSSIBLE, SALARY £35-60K DOE PLUS BENS

Based in Dundee, Grw Talent’s client is a well known and highly established engineering and manufacturing services business. Over many years they have built a solid reputation doing ongoing and bespoke work for a range of clients to enterprise level. They have acute capabilities in power electronics, electro-mechanical assemblies, CNC machining and lifting services. The business is run by a dynamic and highly ambitious leadership team. They now need to recruit a Project Manager (potentially could be a Project Engineer role for someone less experienced), ideally with an electrical bias.

The Project Manager / Engineer will lead projects from design handover through to full-scale production. Based in a rapidly expanding subcontract manufacturing business producing electromechanical assemblies, this hands-on role covers end-to-end project delivery and ongoing process improvement. Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage manufacturing projects from design release through to production completion.
  • Develop and maintain routings, timings, BOMs, and work instructions using ERP systems.
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities using Lean and Six Sigma tools.
  • Optimise processes for repeatability and cost-effectiveness in future production runs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across design, production, and quality.
  • Support occasional technical discussions with client design teams.
  • Drive improvements in manufacturability, cycle time, and workflow.
  • Ensure documentation, compliance, and quality standards are maintained.

We can consider candidates from a range of industry backgrounds and experience levels. It will suit experienced engineering Project Managers and less experienced Project Engineers. Ideally, you come from an electrical engineering background, product manufacturing biased or academically.

About You:

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or project engineering role.
  • Familiar with ERP/MRP systems for planning and costing.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Strong foundation in Lean principles; Six Sigma experience (Green Belt desirable).
  • Practical, detail-focused, and confident working across departments.

This role represents a great opportunity for a proven or aspiring Project Manager looking to be front and centre of a fast growing Scottish engineering and manufacturing SME. The scope and breadth of the work, client base and vision make this a compelling job. A good base salary DOE on your experience (£35-60K) is accentuated by a comprehensive benefits package.
