Job description

The Project Engineer supports the delivery of plant modifications to optimise plant operations, resolve plant problems and enable safe and efficient production of low cost, quality products.

This role is to prepare, schedule, co-ordinate and monitor all assigned projects to assist the Engineering team implement projects which maximise value to the business in a safe environmentally friendly manner.

• Implement all assigned main objectives for project activities
• Implement improvement actions, support projects and other activities focused on enhancing plant performance
• Implement changes, utilising best practice, new equipment and technology. Identify and provide appropriate design tools
• Perform calculations and analysis to ensure the piping system meets performance requirements and safety standards
• Choosing appropriate materials and components for the piping system, considering factors like cost, durability and compatibility.
• Collaborating with other engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure the piping system is integrated effectively with other project aspects.
• Ensure that process safety guidelines are followed
• Recommend and implement any changes in the plant as required to improve performance or cost efficiency. Propose and specify investments and expenses, as needed to successfully operate the sites
• Prepare, schedule, co-ordinate and monitor all assigned projects and communicate during scheduled interactions with clients to interpret requirements and needs
• Identify and resolve technical issues that may arise during the design and construction phases
• Communicate with the project manager and other members of the team to provide any necessary assistance or technical support
• Ensure the project site is compliant with the Company’s rules and regulations. Monitor the safety standards and ensure the work environment is safe for the team
• Assist in the training of Plant Managers, Operators and associated technical personnel on new equipment
• Participate and support hazard studies for capital projects and for periodic plant reviews
• Support plant shutdowns and turnarounds. Lead punch-listing before plant start-up

Required skills :

• Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline (Chemical or Mechanical)
• Preferably with piping design experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly convey technical content and adapt style to suit target audience
• Demonstrate good organisational skills and be able to prioritise work with effective problem solving and practical outlook
• Ability to handle multiple work projects running concurrently as the business need arises
• Proficiency in relevant software, such as engineering design software and project management software, including familiarity with CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD)
