Job description

DEA's Civil Engineering group is hiring a Project Engineer/Engineering Designer to support our Land Development Business Unit. Under supervision of assigned Project Engineer(s), this individual will perform work in support of a variety of residential and commercial land development projects. As part of a design team, they will contribute to the development of stormwater management, utility, and roadway designs, including construction documents and all supporting documentation. This position offers remote work options with a preferred location in the Puget Sound Area.

Position Duties:

  1. Apply civil engineering principles to projects, either as a team leader or independently.
  2. Create design plans and lead the production of specifications for projects including site layouts, grading, drainage, paving, utilities, and related civil activities.
  3. Lead water quality reports and drainage studies, including hydraulic and hydrologic calculations.
  4. Perform calculations, prepare specifications and proposals, and handle permitting applications.
  5. Manage project schedules, prepare and review cost estimates, and coordinate with clients.
  6. Execute complex assignments by evaluating, selecting, and modifying standard engineering techniques.
  7. Develop new approaches to solve problems.
  8. Interface with clients and public agencies.
  9. Potentially supervise project staff and mentor junior team members.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • At least 4 years of relevant design experience in land development projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering License.
  • 8+ years of land development design experience.
  • LEED AP Certification.
